Don Martindale!!!???

Take a look at your new Defensive Coordinator of the Denver Broncos, Don Martindale (Former Broncos Linebackers coach)!?
I'm pretty sure he was not their first choice... And in other news, Dean Pees, the guy who the media thought McDaniels would bring in to be defensive coordinator, was hired by the Baltimore Ravens as linebackers coach. Coincidence? I think not. I really have no analysis yet, except for the fact the Josh McDaniels is planning on running the same scheme the Broncos used last year; so it's hard to say if the defensive play of the team will change very much at all.

The NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement: Will it get done?

From what I'm reading, the Washington Redskins are a huge part of why the NFL CBA is at a standstill. The Redskins bring in $327 million a year, and the most an NFL team can spend on salary and benifits a year is $150 million. Thus, the Redskins only spend 46% of the revenue they bring in; versus the Minnesota Vikings only bring in about $200 million. So when the Vikings spend $150 million they are spending 75% of their revenue to keep up the team.

The NFL is suggesting that the players take a 20% decrease on their salaries which is $800 million league wide. But they want them to do this so that the NFL doesn't turn into the lopsided Major League Baseball organization where only a couple of teams are relevant. If this deal doesn't get done by next year then multiple things could go wrong for the league including teams not having a price floor and thus spending very little on salary and benifits. Basically, the Buffalo Bills could start paying their team only $100 million and having a pathetic product playing on the field on Sunday; this is just one more reason that something needs to happen QUICKLY!! Goodell!!

Tim Tebow is alive because his mother is pro-life, thus...

...he is going to participate in a pro-life ad that will air during the Superbowl. Many groups are already protesting, but I'm just looking forward to the Christian, Gator and lady loving QB stirring it up. Maybe he'll be drafted in the first round because of his PR move. Doubt it, but I can't wait.

I can't imagine how far the Vikings would fall...

...if these two essential pieces of Minnesota (Favre and Pat Williams) decided to retire. They wouldn't freefall below a .500 record because they still have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, but they will not see the NFC championship game next year if they do not retain Favre and Williams. Tavaris Jackson is not Aaron Rodgers, so the Vikings should be sweating Favre's decision. Williams doesn't exactly have a solid stand-in either. All I know is that the Vikings are hoping to get a solid answer from both players as to what their plans are for next season before the draft. Otherwise, it's back to being a team that barely makes the playoffs.

Cleveland fans can finally feel more comfortable buying a Josh Cribbs jersey...

Because it sounds like Mike Holmgren is actually going to respect him and give him a reasonable contract. SHOW ME THE MONEY!

As an amateur fan of AI, I'm enjoying Kara and not missing Ms. Abdul...

She's younger, good looking, and has much more sophisticated things to say. Just pitching my 25 cents from watching the show last night...

Detroit Pistons could move towns?

I'm not sure if Detroit's storied NBA team will actually change location, but the team is up sale and thus so is Rip Hamilton and his cornrolling ladies. Hello Seattle??!!

McNabb is not an Eagle next year?

From what I'm reading and hearing, Donovan may have played his last year with the Eagles. Kevin Kolb is the man according to many of the Eagles players. Supposedly, the gap in age between the aging McNabb and the rest of the players on the team is starting to make the players relate more to the younger Kolb. The big question for Philly is: Will next year be a rebuilding year or can McNabb play at a high enough level to win a Superbowl? Personally, I don't believe McNabb can lead the Eagles to a title next year, so I would proceed to trade him and move forward with Kolb. That is just my amateur opinion...

Why is Mike Nolan out of Denver and immediately in Miami?

There doesn't seem to be any direct answer right now for the "friendly" parting of ways between Josh McDaniels and Mike Nolan. At this point, it's just a little frustrating that the Broncos have gone through 5 defensive coordinators in the last 5 years. I believe that Nolan was a step in the right direction for the new look Broncos, and I'm at a loss for why this move was made. Was Nolan unhappy with McDaniels? The only thing we do know is that Nolan didn't leave to move up the food chain and take a head coaching job, he landed in Miami almost immediately taking the same position he held in Denver as the Dolphins defensive coordinator. I intend to get to the bottom of this SOON!
It's swirling around that McDaniels will hire Dean Peas. Peas is the former New England Patriots defensive coordinator that McDaniels, while Patriots offensive coordinator, worked with when the Patriots went unbeaten in the regular season. Another ex-Patriot hired.... Surprise, surprise!!

I just finished the 3rd season of Californication, and...

...it reminded me of how god-awful Kathleen Turner looks these days. Take a look at the comparison photo of her in the 80's versus now. It's just disturbing to see how far down a woman's looks can fall.

Up In the Air: Great Movie, but slightly depressing...

When a movie's main character is a man that lays people off for a living, especially in these times, the movie can be a little bit of a downer; but George Clooney does a pretty good job in the movie of making people feel a little better about getting fired. Clooney is his usual charming, witty self, and he plays the character very well. I would recommend this movie because of the characters and witty comedy, but just make sure you go in knowing that it has some depressing segments.

What a shame!

I, and every other college football fan in America wanted to see a great clash of unbeaten powers in college football. We didn't get it.
Colt McCoy's injury in the first quarter was the nail in my tire while driving back from Las Vegas. No fun. The Longhorns still put up a reasonable showing with their backup QB, but all of the excitement was taken out of the game once Colt left the field. I still watched every play, but not with the same anticipation. Hopefully, next year will be a different story and Alabama might play Boise State with no fun-stopping injuries in the first quarter. So unsatisfied!
